G. N. M Eligibility Details
1. Minimum education eligibility criteria for admission to GNM:
- 10+2 with English and must have obtained a minimum of 40% at the qualifying examination and English individually for any recognized board. Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by Central Government. However, Science is preferable.
- 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in vocational ANM course from the school recognized by Indian Nursing council.
- 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in Vocational Stream-Health care Science from a recognized CBSE board/Centre.
- Registered ANM with pass mark.
For foreign nationals
- The entry qualification equivalency i.e., 12th standard will be obtained by Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. Institution, State Nursing Council will be responsible to ensure that the qualification and eligibility will be equivalent to what has been prescribed as above.
2. Reservation:
- For disabled candidates: 3% Disability reservation to be considered with a disability of locomotor to the tune of 40% to 50% of the lower extremity and other eligibility criteria with regard to age and qualification will be same as prescribed for each nursing programme.
Note: A committee to be formed consisting of medical officer authorized by medical board of state government and a nursing expert in the panel which may decide whether the candidates have the disability of locomotor of 40% to 50%. - 5% is relaxed for SC/ST candidates.
- Any other quotas as per the State Govt. under the reservation policy
Note: Quotas shall be included in the seats sanctioned and not above it.
3. Admission of students shall be once in a year.
4. Students shall be medically fit.
5. Minimum age for admission will be 17 years. (As on 31st December of that year) There No upper age limit for Nursing Programs.

WBJEEB will conduct OMR based Common Entrance Test ANM & GNM-2023 for admission in various Colleges/ Institutes in the State of West Bengal for the academic session 2022-23 into two (2) years Auxiliary Nursing & Midwifery (Revised) course and three (3) years General Nursing & Midwifery course.

Educational qualification:
- Applicants should have completed the intermediate exam or HSC exam from a recognized board or university of Telangana.
- To get admission in the GNM course, applicants must have completed the ANM Nursing Course from a recognized nursing institution.
Qualifying marks:
- General category applicants are eligible to get admission in the GNM course if they have scored a minimum of 40% marks in the HSC exams or qualifying exams.
- Reserved category applicants are also eligible to get admission in the GNM course if they have scored a minimum of 35% marks that are passing marks in the HSC exams or qualifying exams.
Compulsory subjects:
- To get admission in the GNM courses, applicants must have physics, chemistry, and biology along with English as mandatory subjects in the HSC exams.
Another stream:
- Those applicants are also eligible to apply for the admission procedure who have passed the HSC exam in Arts (Mathematics, Biotechnology, Economics, Political Science, History, Geography, Business Studies, Accountancy, Home Science, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy) and English Core/ English elective or Healthcare Science – Vocational stream.
Age criteria:
- Official authorities have decided that the lower age limit of the applicants should be above the age of 16 years at the time of admission (for both general and reserved category applicants).
- However official authorities have decided that No upper age limit for Nursing Programs.
- However, for reserved category applicants, the upper age limit to apply for the admission procedure is 38 years.
